FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: DO YOU MANUFACTURE SMALL QUANTITIES OF SPRINGS AND METAL FORMS, OR DO YOU ONLY MANUFACTURE LARGE RUNS?
A: We manufacture short runs, large runs, and custom metal form and spring prototypes. We can work with you to determine the best and most cost effective manufacturing solution for your part.

Q: WHAT IS TYPICAL LEAD TIME FOR SPRING, WIRE FORM OR METAL STAMPING SAMPLES?
A: This varies depending on geometry of the part and the manufacturing processes required. Compression springs, extension springs and torsion springs average approximately 5 – 7 days turnaround time, while more complex shaped steel springs or stampings can require 2 - 3 weeks. Secondary/finishing operations, such as plating and heating treating may require additional time. Expedited options are available, so please contact us to discuss your order.

Q: DOES JD SPRINGS MANUFACTURING OFFER DESIGN OR START-UP ASSISTANCE ON SPRINGS, WIRE FORMS AND STAMPINGS?
A: The ground level is the best time to get JD Springs Manufacturing involved! We can advise on design and offer suggestions to help lowest production costs. Our engineers have years of spring and metal form experience, including CAD, 3D and 2D design layout as well as prototype development.

Q: HOW DOES MODERN TECHNOLOGY AND EQUIPMENT HELP TO LOWER SPRING AND METAL FORM MANUFACTURING COSTS?
A: Our advanced processes and machinery are designed to efficiently and quickly produce parts with repeatable precision and compliance. Our modern equipment allows for fast, efficient setup and programming. JD Springs Manufacturing uses a variety of automated equipment and state-of-the-art technologies to help us lower labor costs, reduce errors, and eliminate waste. Q: IS JD SPRINGS MANUFACTURING ONLY A MANUFACTURER, OR DO YOU STOCK PARTS?
A: JD Springs Manufacuring is a custom manufacturer of springs, wire forms and stampings. Every order produced is manufactured to meet individual order requirements. However, we do have a small amount of stock items available.

Q: IF WE ORDER LARGE QUANTITIES OF SPRINGS, WIRE FORMS OR STAMPINGS, WILL YOU HOUSE THE PARTS AND MAKE SHIPMENTS TO US ON A REQUIRED BASIS?
AWe do accept annual Purchase Orders and release parts on an as-needed, scheduled basis. In these situations we typically manufacture your spring or metal form and ship on specified dates.

Q: WHAT SPRING MATERIAL IS BEST FOR MY ORDER?
A: There are a number of considerations when determining which material type should be used. Environment concerns, application and operating stress requirements all affect material choice. JD Springs Manufacturing can produce compression springs, extension springs and torsion springs using a virtually unlimited variety of materials types, so please contact us for additional design assistance and part material information.
